Cheerleaders prepare for exciting year of competitions
After several months of practicing Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, the JV and varsity cheerleaders took on their first competition of the season on Nov. 23.
The junior varsity cheerleaders placed first and the varsity cheerleaders placed second at the Wilmington Invitational.
They have all worked hard to get this far in the season and are ready to take on the rest of the competitions this year.
“It felt great to take the mat this season because I missed it so much from last year. I felt awesome because all of my stunts hit, and I have an amazing team with some awesome new uniforms to compete with,” Paige Ogarek, sophomore, said.
In the opening of the routine the girls were able to start off with no deductions. Towards to middle of the routine there were two deductions when one stunt group fell into another and both ended up coming down. The girls had no other deductions during tumbling and during their elite stunts. When It came to the pyramid it started off very good and at the last major part it took a wrong turn.
With this being the first competition the girls and boy Kyle Tucker are not feeling defeated but they are feeling motivated to do better at each competition than they did at the last one till they make it to the state mat.
