Some positives from loss to Oswego

A tough loss (42-7)  against Oswego on Sept. 19 has the varsity football players looking forward to this week’s game against Plainfield Central.

With a strong pass from senior quarterback John Carnagio, senior Quintin Durov ran for a 78-yard touchdown. The Indians were able to cut the Panthers’ lead in half with a score of 14-7 in the first quarter.

Defensive back Bryce Dixon, senior, was able to take down two kids during kickoff for the first quarter.

Dixon said, “I was able to sprint as fast as I could, trying to break up the wedge the best I could, I was able to take out two kids as hard as I could.”

Seniors Carson Oughton senior and Blake Parzych both had sacks throughout the game. Parzych, taking on two blockers, was able to get past both of them in order to chase the quarterback from behind to get the sack. Oughton blitzed through the line and was able to tackle the quarterback, as well. Senior Kris Ledesma also intercepted an Oswego pass.

“It was an amazing feeling catching the ball and being able to help the team and get the turnover,” Ledesma said.

Ready to take Plainfield Central, the varsity football players are ready for the next game this Saturday at 1 p.m.
