Minooka’s freshman baseball team beat LaSalle-Peru on March 31 at home.
“This game was played very well on our side of the field. We played very good defense with myself making a couple plays,” said Graham Lee. “Colton Fransisco made some hard plays too. It took us a while to get hitting but eventually we got it moving and didn’t stop. We won 15-5.”
Nolan Anderson pitched 3 innings for Minooka and struck out 4. Connor Wierzbowski came in and finished the game through 2 innings and had 4 strikeouts.
Landon Sopkin ended the game with a hit and 4 RBI. Nathan Danielson also got a hit with 2 RBI.
“Our game went pretty well but there’s still some things we need to work on. Even though we were down, our team still had energy,” said Nathan Danielson.
The day had colder temperatures reaching in the upper 40s, which made hitting the ball harder, but Minooka scored two or more runs each inning.
Head coach Matt Shanahan thought the game went well.
“We played a very good game against them with the final score being 15-5, our kids came out hitting right away,” said Shanahan.
