Minooka’s first baseman Addisonn Crumly had a great game against Providence with 3 home runs, one of which was a grand slam.
On March 29, the Minooka varsity softball team beat Providence 13-3 at Providence, and it was a very exciting game for the visitors.
“I think the key to our success in that game was that we kept the ball rolling and didn’t stop,” said Crumly. “Some standout moments was we all did really good at the plate, and didn’t let the pitcher get in our head.”
Minooka’s center fielder Mayson Carr, senior, had a great game defensively. She had many catches, but she made an outstanding catch over her head to keep Providence from scoring.
Junior Payton Psinas and junior Addison Stehlik also had many catches and helped the team out defensively.
“I struggled at the plate a little but made up for it on defense,” said Carr. “I had a few catches, including one diving into the fence.”
Minooka’s catcher, Gracie Anderson, and third baseman, Jaelle Hamilton, collectively had 5 hits for the Indians. Anderson had a double and a single, and Hamilton had a home run, double, and single.
“I think our hitting really came alive against Providence,” said Anderson, senior. “We saw the pitching very well and were able to get on top early and stay on top throughout the entire game.”
The team did well overall and got the win. The team finished the game with 18 hits, 11 RBI, and 4 home runs.
“It was business as usual,” said head coach Mark Brown. “We got to the field and went through our pregame routine and knew we had to play a solid game because Providence is a solid team.”
