The JV girls softball team played an exciting game against Lincoln-Way West on March 27 at home.
Minooka battled it out and won 9-8 with a walk-off home run to left centerfield from third baseman Aubrey Bird in the 7th inning. The game was intense, but the girls did not fail to keep striving for victory.
“We were all excited and had the drive to win,” said Bird.
The girls were making big plays during the game with the walk-off and a double play from second baseman Teagan Nurczyk and shortstop Lexi Bukala. The double play kept Lincoln-Way West from scoring. The team worked together and played for each other which helped them be successful.
“Our team success came from working together as a team and having confidence,” said Nurczyk. “We are able to boost each others mindsets just being by each other.”
The girls are starting their season off strong with many successes against other teams, earning a 5-0 record after the win over the Warriors. Even though it was a close game, the girls kept their winning mindset and never gave up. Keeping their confidence up was a crucial factor to their win.
“Everything was positive throughout the whole game ands no one gave up,” said Nurczyk, “We all worked together and kept each others confidence high because we knew we had to win.”
