“Abby and Mia have a strong relationship as teammates. I always see them helping each other out if they are stuck on something, or giving each other corrections,” sophomore Lilly Bishop said.
Sophomores Abby and Mia Narducci are sisters on the Minooka varsity competitive dance team. Abby and Mia are two of the three triplets in their family. They have been dancing for 13 years and not only dance for the school, but also dance for Thrive Dance Project along with Bishop.
“Being on the team with my sister has positives and negatives, a negative is that we are always telling each other what we need to fix, but a positive is that in the end it is making both of us better dancers and helping the team,” Abby Narducci said.
Having a sister on the dance teams allows the girls to go to each other with something they are struggling with and the other will be completely honest and say what needs to be fixed.
“If my turns were off in a practice, she helps me figure out what’s going wrong,” Abby said.
Abby and Mia both joined the dance team their freshman year and experienced state together. State was a little stressful for the team but overall it was a good experience and the girls found it more enjoyable having a sister around for anything they might have needed.
So far this year, the varsity dance team finished 3rd at the Andrew Invitational on Nov. 16 and 4th at the Oswego Invitational on Dec. 7.
“Abby and Mia’s sisterhood affects the team positively because they are both very talented dancers and always strive to do better. Their good attitudes and positivity add to the overall environment of our team,” Bishop said.
The sisters make sure to encourage one another by helping each other through their weaknesses, adding extra comradery to the dance team.
“When it comes to weaknesses, my sister helps fix my mistakes to make me better,” Mia Narducci said.
Abby’s favorite dance team experience with her sister and her team was going to nationals in Florida and getting to go to Disney World.
“Rooming with everyone was also really fun and it made our team so much more of a team,” Abby said.
Mia’s favorite was going to state.
Being able to work alongside each other benefits both the girls, and the team.
“We push each other to do our best,” Mia said.
