Minooka boys sophomore basketball team took down Yorkville in a thriller.
On Dec. 6, Minooka boys sophomore basketball team defeated Yorkville at home 44-37.
The Indians top scorer was Graham Lee with 15 points, 14 of them were in the first half.
Coach Aaron Woods favorite part of the game was that everyone on the team played together and executed well. Players on the bench were engaged and ready to go.
“The team played together. This was great to see that the team was able to fight together and learn how to grow together,” Woods said. “When players that are on the bench are ready and engaged in the game it makes it easy when their number is called for them to produce when they get in the game.”
Minooka played outstanding basketball with forcing turnovers in the paint and winning on fast breaks.
“I think the biggest highlight of the game was our team being able to get steals in the paint,” Minooka sophomore Nehemiah Brown said.
Minooka played well on offense, too. They looked accurate from 3 and were moving the ball around the court well.
“It felt like we couldn’t miss, all of our shots were falling and we were pretty accurate from 3,” Minooka sophomore Joey Rutz said.
Minooka played excellent on interior defense but their perimeter defense needs some work.
“One thing my team needs to improve on is our perimeter defense because we had a lot of possessions where there were blow-bys,” Brown said.
