The Minooka girls wrestling team took on 17 teams on Nov. 27 in their own Thanksgiving Throwdown. Minooka got 108.5 points coming 4th, with Andrew winning the meet.
Ezra Rodriguez is a junior at Minooka and came in 3rd for her team in the 140 bracket.
“Our team had a really good start to the season, and I’m really excited to see where we go,” Rodriguez said.
In bracket 145, junior Ameila Lemberg placed 4th. Also coming in 4th in bracket 155 was senior Palmer Calvey.
Calvey said, “Wrestling is a really cool sport, and I think more girls should try out and join the team.”
Junior Holli Coughlen was 5th in bracket 120.
In the 115 bracket, freshman Angela Morales placed 8th for Minooka.
About the first match of the season, Sabina Charlebois, a junior at Minooka, who had been injured out for awhile, said, “It was nice, just being back on the mat.”
