In a dual quad match on Nov. 30 to start their season, the Minooka boys varsity wrestling team faced Lockport (38-29, loss), Belleville West (43-23, win), and Mt. Carmel (46-28, loss).
The Minooka boys wrestled hard and were determined to come out and defeat Mt. Carmel and Lockport as they were defeated by them last year.
Varsity wrestler Kaden Meyer said, “ I think our team wrestled very well compared to last year where we lost to Mount Carmel last year and this year by only 15.”
Meyer said he plans to work on attacking in neutral at practice to get better as a wrestler during the season, as he went 2-1 on the day.
Another key point to add onto that is the Indians were missing two key starters in their lineup and still did well against a high ranked wrestling team in the state.
Varsity wrestler Lucas Heap said, “The team overall did well on Saturday, we went 1-2. We beat Belleville West and we had a great match against Lockport and it was a close dual.” Heap went 1-1 on the day.
Varsity Wrestler Santino Capodice said, “I think there’s always room for improvement, but for the first week we did pretty good.” Capodice went 1-2.
