Minooka’s boys freshman A basketball team won against Crete-Monee on Nov. 30 with a score of 37-33. The game was their second in the Joliet West Thanksgiving Classic Tournament.
“It felt close, but in the end we came out with the win,” said freshman Jayden Hoover.
During the game there were some mistakes about communication and letting Crete-Monee score.
“We have to talk more on defense and not let other teams score,” said Hoover.
It was a close game heading to the 4th quarter.
AJ Purcell hit a three at the beginning of the 4th quarter to extend the lead, but Crete-Monee came back.
Hoover got a key rebound and scored in the final seconds to keep the lead.
Gavin Dupree was the leading scorer for Minooka with 10 points.
Coach Jonny Butler was happy with the team’s performance.
“There wasn’t anything that upset me during the game,” said Butler.
