“Clara is a good teammate, she is very fun to be around and she pushes us a lot and makes us better,” sophomore Paige Joachim said.
Freshman Clara Getsoian is on the cross country team at MCHS and she is the only freshman on varsity. Getsoian is new to high school cross country but still pushes people.
”Normally when I’m down I get really hard on myself, but she always knows what to say and she can cheer me up,” sophomore Kimora Rodley said.
Getsoian is a person that people want to be around and talk to because she is really nice.
“She’s really nice, really supportive, and she doesn’t like to brag about her times and herself,” freshman Madylyn Hawker said.
Getsoian explains what she likes about the sport.
“ I like that it is a team sport, but not a team sport, and all you have to do is like give it your all,” Getsoian said.
At MCHS, coaches put runners in four different groups. While they might not all practice together, they still want to cheer the whole team on at meets.
“(Getsoian) likes to cheer other people on and tells them good job,” freshman Emma Dyxin said.
“She’s motivational because she helps push us and she yells at us to go,” Joachim said.
Teammates are the people that can really push you and they want you to succeed and do your best.
“I love my teammates. They’re so fun to be with and so funny,” Getsoian.
Getsoain has made good first impressions with the coaches and she put herself out there.
“My first impression of Clara was that she seemed confident in her abilities, yet someone who quietly goes about her work. She was not afraid to run and push herself and those around her, and she was keeping up with what is turning out to be another really strong cross country team,” head coach Kevin Gummerson said.
Natalie Andrews is a member of the girls cross country team.
