Minooka girls swimming competed in the girls Pontiac swim meet on Sept. 12. They competed with the Morris Co-Op team, which came away with two wins over Pontiac and Urbana.
Sophomore Audrey James and sophomore Makenzie Lenahan had great swims.
“I think I did pretty good at the meet,” James said.
She was part of the Minooka’s relay team and got first place in her 200 free varsity and 2nd in her 100 butterfly varsity swim.
One of the highlights for sophomore Makenzie Lenahan was “cheering for one another, just the morale was really high.”
Lenahan was a part of multiple races for Minooka’s swim team getting 5th in the 200 varsity relay, 6th in the relay 200 IM for varsity, 3rd in the 400 free relay varsity, and 4th in the 100 free varsity.
“The water was murky and was a disadvantage for us swimmers in this meet,” James said.
“I think I did really quite well and I just need to work on my mentality going into those types of meets,” said Lenahan.
The girls are coached by Andrew Porth.
“I thought we did great, the relays did very well and it was good to see so many swimmers get on the podium to be recognized,” he said.

Audrey actually swam the 100 butterfly, not the 100IM.
