The Minooka sophomore football team had a nice Homecoming win against Romeoville on Sept. 20 to put their record to 4-0.
Gage Segerberg is a running back on the Minooka team. He said one of the keys to winning was “our defense being able to force many turnovers.”
Minooka’s defense caused multiple fumbles and multiple interceptions in the 28-6 win.
Mason Vogt had a nice interception to give the ball back to the offense, and the offense scored 4 touchdowns.
There were a lot of good things that happened with the offense. Segerberg had 3 touchdowns and 100 yards rushing in the game against Romeoville.
The offense is led by freshman Nathaniel Danielson, the quarterback of the sophomore Minooka football team.
“The run game this game was really working and our offensive line played very well,” Danielson said.
Running the ball was going well. This game they could not stop the run nor Minooka’s running backs Segerberg and Quinn Schiffbauer.
There were a few good passes as well.
“My favorite part of the game was the pass to Quinn (Schiffbauer), which we gained a lot of yards from,” Danielson said.
The Romeoville defense just could not really stop much, could not stop the run or the pass.
“I think I played pretty well in this game but not my best,” Danielson said.
Overall the offense played a clean football game to secure the win against Romeoville.
Cam England is a member of the sophomore football team.
