Mekhi Williams scored two rushing touchdowns, which started the powerful lead for the Minooka Indians freshman football team against Joliet Central freshman team on Sept. 14.
“We have to go out there and win, we cannot lose,” Williams said.
Joliet Central was the team to beat, and Minooka knew that. They knew that we needed to show how strong Minooka freshman football is. Their best asset was trust in one another to get the job done.
“We worked together and communicated which definitely played a part in winning the game” freshman Alex Workman said.
Everyone had the same mindset – to win. They had some slip ups but will improve from that as the season goes on. The offense held on really well and scored touchdowns that blew them out the game.
Other touchdowns were scored for Minooka by Brycen Babecki and Jayden Hoover.
“I think we played well, I think there were some mistakes we made but we put some points on the board, and at the end of the day that’s what we were aiming for. But I definitely think there are some mistakes we can clean up moving forward,” coach Nick Micetich said.
They ended up beating Joliet Central with the score being 45-6.
