Minooka girls swimming for the Morris Co-Op team finished fourth in their home meet at Morris against Lasalle-Peru on Sept. 11.
Top medalist Audrey James had a great swim meet at the Lasalle-Peru meet.
Sophomore Caitlin Van Acker and sophomore Sophie Vallejo also had some great swims.
“I did pretty well except my 200 IM.” Vallejo said.
Vallejo has been swimming at Minooka for two years, but she had been swimming overall for about 8 years now. She got into it and never looked back. She had been swimming competitively since she was 7.
Sophomore Caitlin Van Acker said one of the highlights was “our divers’ places which were really good.”
Van Acker is also a great part of the Minooka swim team. She has done many things in her two years with the Minooka swim team like placing great swimming and best of all getting some medals. She also did some good things at this meet.
“We all dropped time and swam pretty well,” Van Acker said.
Van Acker and Minooka ended up having a great swim meet with people dropping time and getting medals. Van Acker and Vallejo would go on to say their favorite things of the meet.
“It was our first home meet and to see the seniors happy,” Van Acker said.
Vallejo was happy about her 100-meter fly because she got first.
Head coach Andrew Porth summarized the meet.
“It was a tough meet with some great competition and we were able to get some relays set moving forward which is a great thing,” he said.
