Caitlin VanAcker is a sophomore on the swim team that Minooka participates in through the Morris Co-Op. She has been swimming for 8 years. This interview with Nook News has been edited for clarity and length.
Q: How did you get into swimming?
A: My mom just put me into the sport, and I have stuck with it ever since.
Q: What do you like about swimming?
A: Being able to gain friendships over the years I do it.
Q: What stroke do you do?
A: I do the breaststroke while swimming.
Q: How do you think the team is going to be this year?
A: I think we are going to be okay, but when the season eventually goes later into the season we will get better.
Q: Who’s your favorite Olympic swimmer?
A: Katie Ledecky.
Q: What type of events are you in for the team?
A: I am in the 100-meter breaststroke.
Q: Are you looking forward to this season?
A: Of course I am going to have so much fun this year with the coaches and the team.
Q: How are you thinking you are going to do this year?
A: I think I am going to do well. There is some stuff I am going to improve on as the season goes on but overall this season is going to be awesome.
