AJ Purcell plays tight-end on the Minooka freshman football team. He has been playing football for six years. This interview with Nook News has been edited for clarity.
Q:Why did you choose to play this position this season?
A: I was on the O-line on the Chanooka Braves, and I have decided that because I have lost some weight, and got faster. So now I have decided to catch footballs, and score some touchdowns.
Q: How excited are you for this football season?
A: I am really excited about this football season.
Q: What does it mean to you to be a part of this football program and this school?
A: Having a bunch of friends for the next four years of high school, and enjoying it while it lasts.
Q: Have there been any challenges you have faced this season yet?
A: Putting in the hours before practice, and after catching footballs, and doing drills to make me a better player on the field.
Q: Who is your favorite NFL player, and why?
A: I would probably say Cole Kmet, because he is the tight end for the Chicago Bears. That is my favorite team.
Q: What player do you compare yourself to on the field?
A: George Kittle (tight end for the San Francisco 49ers).
