Mason Vogt plays safety on the sophomore football team. The sophomores won their season opener against Rock Island on Sept. 2 by a score of 28-25. This interview for Nook News has been edited for length and clarity. 

Q: Why did you choose football?

A: I like being with my teammates and all my friends play football.

Q: How long have you played football for?

A: 6 years.

Q:Who is your favorite professional football player?

A: Dak Prescott

Q: Why did you choose to play safety?

A: Because I’m small.

Q: What positions have you played in your past years?

A: Quarterback, receiver, running back, linebacker, corner.

Q: What do you think the season will be like this year?

A: I think we’re going undefeated, 9-0.

Q: How do you feel about the freshmen that we’re pulled up to play JV?

A: I like them a lot. They’re my neighbors and my friends, so they’re pretty chill.

Q: How do you feel about the defense and offense?

A: I think the defense is better than the offense, but the offense is still good.

Q: Who do you feel is the biggest leader on the team?

A: Kaden Meyer.
