Zane Caves plays quarterback on the Minooka varsity football team, which won the opening game of the season at Rock Island 49-14 on Friday. He has been playing football since he was 6. This interview with Nook News has been edited for clarity and length.
Q: Which team did you grow up playing for?
A: I grew up playing for the Chanooka Braves out of Channahon.
Q: What is the hardest part about playing quarterback?
A: I would say having to make reads and having to know everyone’s position and responsibility.
Q: What do you do when you start feeling pressure on the football field?
A: I usually take a deep breath and flush my mind.
Q: How do you usually prepare for a game on Friday?
A: I usually always get a Jimmy John’s sandwich and listen to country music to clear my mind.
Q: What keeps you motivated at all times?
A: I always want to win.
Q: What is one part of your game you would like to improve on?
A: I would say running the ball
Q: What is your go-to pregame song?
A: “Swag Surfin.”
