Sophie Vallejo is a sophomore at Minooka, she is on the swim team that Minooka participates in through the Morris Co-op. She will participate in four different events this year. This interview for Nook News has been edited for length and clarity.
Q: How did you get into swimming?
A: My mom signed me up when I was little. Then I started competitive swimming when I was 7.
Q: How long have you been swimming for?
A: I have been swimming for 8 years.
Q; What do you like about swimming?
A: I like that it’s a individual sport and that I can make my own goals.
Q: What stroke do you do?
A: I do all of them, but fly is my best stroke, and my best event is the 200 fly.
Q: What events are you in this year?
A: 200 IM, 100 IM, 100 fly, 200 fly.
Q: Who is your favorite Olympic swimmer?
A: Katie Ledecky.
Q; What are you looking forward to this season?
A: I am looking forward to relays with my friends.
Q: How do you think you will do this year?
A: I think I will do good. I hope I drop time.

A: I think we are going to have a great season.
