The Minooka Indians lost to Oswego East in a close hard fought game on Nov. 28.
The Minooka boys basketball team played Oswego East away in Oswego. The game for Minooka was close the whole time, but at the end Oswego East was able to pull away with a final score of 47-39.
“Overall I think we made huge strides, much improved over the last four games,” Minooka assistant coach Jason Boe, said. “That game was one of those games where we kind of connected and clicked.”
The score going into halftime the score was 21-20 East, and the game was neck and neck all the way up until the end of the fourth quarter.
“At halftime I was really impressed with how we were playing as a team but coming out of half we had a couple of bad possessions and they took a larger lead,” DJ Hampton, junior, said.
Hampton led Minooka scorers with 12 points.
“We executed our plays well, we didn’t have a lot of turnovers, we rebounded the ball well,” Micah Hamilton, senior, said.
This game was within Minooka’s reach the whole time until they began to struggle with the important things such as turnovers, and rebounding.
“Offensively we’re struggling right now, 20 turnovers, missed layups, missed opportunities right at the rim, guys not quite concentrating and it’s just our focus and that’s the difference in the game because defensively we were right there,” Boe said.
Charlie Murray is a member of the Minooka varsity boys basketball team.
