Elliott Dahlberg is a starting linebacker for the sophomore football team. He has started both years at linebacker and has been a captain both years. As a freshman, the team went 6-3, and Dahlberg is hoping to improve on that record this year. As of Oct. 10, the sophomore team is 7-0. This interview for Nook News has been edited for length and clarity.
Q: What’s your full name and what town do you live in?
A: My name is Elliott Dahlberg, and I live in Minooka, Illinois.
Q: How big is your family and tell me about each person?
A: I have two siblings and my parents; my brother Ivan, my sister Oliva, my dad, and my mom.
Q: So you’re starting on the JV football team, how has that felt?
A: It has been exciting. I love going to practice everyday, and I love playing games.
Q: How does JV football feel different than freshman football?
A: To me it felt a little bit faster but nothing too crazy.
Q: Is there anything tough about football that the average fan wouldn’t know?
A: The mental aspect, watching film and how many hours of film you have to watch to win a game. I just put so many hours into film to memorize the other teams’ plays.
Q: Does having your dad (Jay Dahlberg) as a coach ever feel weird at all?
A: I actually like it. He can be there for me. We can watch film together, we can game plan together, and I kind of get an inside scoop on everything.
Q: Is there any meaning to the jersey number (9) you picked?
A: My brother picked it, and I thought it looked cool.
Q: What is your favorite class this year and why?
A: It’s probably Foods.
Q: Favorite artist and best song by them?
A: I like a lot, but I’ll probably have to pick Zach Bryan and my favorite song is “Hey Driver.”
Q: Lastly, any goals for the team this year?
A: 9-0 and to be conference champs.
