Senior Kalyn Bebej plays on the Minooka varsity girls golf team. She has been making positive contributions throughout the season for the golf team. This interview with Nook News has been edited for clarity and length.
Q: When did you start to like golf?
A: My sophomore year I picked up golf and decided to try out for the team.
Q: Do you have a pregame routine?
A: I like to listen to music before I hit on the range and try to lock in before my match.
Q: Does anybody in your family play golf?
A: My dad and my brother play, and they’re a lot better than me.”
Q: What’s the most number of strokes under par that you ever shot in a game?
A: I never went under par, only close to even.
Q: What do you think is the most important aspect in golf?
A: Staying focused throughout the entire game.
Q: What is the hardest part of golf in your opinion?
A: Keeping my calm and trying to not let a bad shot ruin my entire round.
Q: What is your best club?
A: My 7 wood because it goes the straightest and is the most consistent.
Q: How does a bad environment affect your performance?
A: I hate playing in the rain. It’s hard to golf in bad conditions.
Q: Who is your favorite teammate?
A: I’d say two of my friends Lauren McPhillips-Newcomb and Leona Trevino. They are my favorite people to golf with on the team.
Q: What is your favorite hobby besides golf?
A: Soccer is one of my favorite hobbies.
