Q: Do you have a big family?
A: I do. I have six people in my family
Q: What year do you graduate and are you ready to graduate?
A: I graduate in the year 2024, and I am ready to move on to the next chapter of my life after high school.
Q: What do you want to do after graduation, like jobs and other things?
A: I guess I definitely want to get a job to help pay for college and stuff. I’m super busy throughout the school year so it’s kind of not an option for me. But, definitely over the summer, I can do something and then just get myself ready to move on and go to college hopefully.
Q: How does it feel being the vice president of student council and being such a role model at Minooka?
A: Oh! Well, l thank you! It feels great. There’s a lot of responsibility that goes along with it. A lot of behind the scenes that not everyone can see, but it’s a wonderful opportunity to have had this position offered to me, and I’m so happy that I get to fulfill it and be a role model for students.
Q: What clubs are you participating in?
A: So I am in the student council, the National Honors Society, Orchesis Dance Company, Interact Club, senior class, and tennis. I think that should be all of them!
Q: What is the student council planning to focus on this year?
A: Our big focus is recruitment for the club. Our numbers seem to go down as the year progresses so we hope to get our number up a lot. Of course our big task currently is Homecoming, but as soon as [it] is over, we kind of take a backseat on things and focus on what we can do for the club and the students in the club.
Q: Why did you choose to join these clubs and what do you do in them, especially in student council?
A: I like to keep myself involved and busy. Sometimes it can get stressful, having to balance schoolwork, personal life, and clubs and activities but staying busy keeps me happy. In the student council we mainly focus on preparing for events and, I don’t know, I guess creating an agenda for those events. What I do specifically, I keep track of participation and attendance in the club, and I also just collaborate with outside vendors, through the school or teachers, or other students and really try to promote student council.
Q: How do you want to further make a difference in the world after High school?
A: I hope to become an occupational therapist so that’s somewhere in the medical field. I really want to work with students or kids with special needs and work in hospitals, so I’m hoping to make a smaller impact wherever I choose to live in the future. In the world I just, I want to do just what everyone can do, make the world a better place.
Q: What are some challenges that come along with being such an important person and just handling all the clubs in general?
A: The main challenge is just balance. Being able to handle being in challenging classes in school but then also having other clubs outside of school and sports that are demanding and your mental and physical health. I just make sure that I take a day for myself every once in a while.
Q: What is your favorite part about being a student at MCHS?
A: The school spirit and the whole variety of clubs and activities that we offer, just because it’s a great outlet for if some one’s getting too stressed academically, you know you can always go to a club or activity.
Q: Do you have anything else to add?
A: If I had to give advice to any student at Minooka or anywhere, I would say to get involved in the school, but it is super important to put yourself first at the end of the day. Personally, I love keeping myself busy and having power positions in the school but sometimes it’s okay to take a backseat and just go to the clubs and just take a step back and be yourself and enjoy your friends and school always comes first.
