Champions League now in quarterfinals
After the Champions League’s round of 16 is now in the book, we move on to the quarterfinals on April 11 and 12.
They contain matchups with the defending champs Real Madrid vs. Chelsea who have made a recent bounce back by winning the last three out of their four games which is a good sight for the Blues. But, with Real Madrid beating Liverpool 6-2 things are looking bright for Vini Jr. and Benzema and Madrid. But with the recent resurgence of the Blues, the players are starting to finally mesh together and play the brand of football that the Blues usually play.
This game will come down to who takes advantage of their home-field advantage the most. Will Real Madrid get a strong start to the aggregate at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Real Madrid will start off with a 2-1 lead over Chelsea in the first game but, with the recent success of Chelsea will have a chance at Stamford Bridge with all the Blues fans behind them Chelsea will score two goals at home but, Vini Jr. and Benzema won’t be enough to beat the defending champs.
The next matchup is Manchester City vs. FC Bayern Munich after Manchester City’s obliteration of RB Leipzig beating them 8-1 in the aggregate they look to repeat their success. But, who is to say that FC Bayern Munich can’t beat Manchester City? They just beat Paris-Saint Germain 3-0 in the aggregate, which is hard to do in the first place even without Neymar.
Having to contain the best player in the world right now and holding PSG to no goals is a big statement for the defenses of Bayern Munich. Will that defense be able to contain the great team of Manchester City with the players, Haaland, Kevin Debryune, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Ederson, and Stones. I think this group of Manchester City players can do great things and will win this aggregate 5-0 unless injuries happen.
The third matchup on April 12 and 18 is Napoli vs. A.C. Milan. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen of Napoli have been on a tear recently that will continue against A.C. Milan who was shaky in group play and is lucky they are on the side of the bracket that they are on. Napoli will win 4-0 on aggregate.
The fourth and final matchup is S.L. Benfica vs. Inter Milan on April 11 and 19, which I think won’t be close at all after beating up Club Brugge 7-1 in aggregate Inter lost 3 of their last five they have no momentum and will lose 5-1 to Benfica.
