The winterguard competes at regionals this weekend.

It’s officially winterguard season, and the team is ready to dance and spin their way to victory.

The WG team is taking on new challenges at regionals this Saturday and Sunday.

The team leaves Friday night and heads to Avon High School in Avon, Ind.

Minooka will be performing a “4 and a half minute show called ‘Finding the light,’” Kassidy VanDyke, junior, said.

Competing against 18 other teams, Minooka seems confident. The competition splits the 18 into 2 groups, which puts more odds on Minooka. Their goal is to place in the top 5.

If we have a nice performance and remember our counts we could make it to finals,” Jessica Smith, junior, said.

This regional is the first of two regionals. The second regional is the Chicago Regional, which Minooka will attend Feb. 25-26. If they perform well during both, they make it to finals which will carry over to the next day.

“I believe that we can make it to the finals, we’ve worked hard and we can’t wait for the rest of the season,” Lauren English, senior, said.
