Students perform at the fall band concert on Nov. 10, 2022.

Concert band, symphonic band, wind symphony, and wind ensemble will all be performing at the MCHS mid-winter concert Thursday, Feb. 9.

I’m excited just to be able to do concerts again because during covid we weren’t allowed to do concerts in our normal way, and I’m excited to be able to do it all again,” Faith Hayes, junior bassoon player, said.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Central.

“I’m most excited to show all the different repertoire we have because we have a lot of good selections,” Denise Shelby, junior French horn player, said.

The Minooka band has many good pieces being shown and the most favorable piece is “Second Suite,” which has four different movements. This movement is being performed by the wind ensemble.

“This concert comes off the end of a basketball season, quartets at the end of last semester,” Mr. Kyle Adelmann, band director, said. “So we really haven’t had the normal concert cycle. But I’m really proud of the band and we’re ready after this concert to move onto the next solo/ensemble.”

Adelmann’s favorite piece is “Thunder and The Roar.”

“Symphonic will be performing this piece, and I’m really proud of the growth of this group,” he said.
