The biggest tournament in the soccer world, the Champions League, is now in round 16 of the knockout stages. 

The top teams to potentially win the whole thing are Manchester City, Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid, FC Bayern, Napoli, and Chelsea. 

With Real Madrid winning the Champions League last season they will look to recreate their success and bring another trophy to their fans.  The draw for the round of 16 has been decided and everyone knows who they will play. All fans are eager to see how their prospective club will play against their opponent in the knockout stages to advance and be one step closer to a Champions League trophy.

Everyone around the world will be on the edge of their seats watching their club potentially having the chance to advance to the quarter-finals and keep the dream of a Champions League trophy alive. 

With the round of 16 draw coming up, we have the matchups set for the first of three knockout stages. 

The biggest matchups are Real Madrid vs. Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) vs FC Bayern.

The defending Champions Real Madrid continue their way on to possibly repeating as Champions League champs. But, they must get through Liverpool first to move on to the quarter-finals.

Real Madrid is trying to repeat while Liverpool is trying to crash the party and knock off the defending champs in the round of 16.

Liverpool can and will give Real Madrid a run for their money with stars in Mo Saleh, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Allision Becker, and Luis Diaz will give all they have to potentially send the reigning champs home early. 

It will be an uphill battle for Liverpool to take down Real Madrid with star players in Vinícius Júnior, Karim Benzema, Antonio Rüdiger, and Thibaut Courtois will be the wall between the semis and Liverpool.

FC Bayern with superstar left winger Sadio Mane will have a tough tie with PSG against Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar to attempt a takedown of the biggest club in France. It would be a massive upset if FC Bayern can pull it off but it will be a tough road ahead for Bayern. 

The next round-of-16 matchup is Chelsea vs Dortmund which will be two exciting games for a trip to the semis.

Dortmund is coming in on winning their last four games most recent games they will bring that momentum into their matchup against Chelsea.

Who will be looking to rebound after falling on tough times with only winning one of their last five leagues and cup matches with Chelsea’s recent spending spree of around roughly $200 million we will now see if that spending will pay off against the big teams.

With other matchups in AC Milan against Tottenham Spurs, RB Leipzig vs Manchester City, FC Internazionale Milano vs FC Porto, Napoli vs Eintracht Frankfurt, Club Brugge vs SL Benfica.

Rounds off the round of 16 matchups and these matchups determine who moves on and who will play each other.
