The Minooka Varsity boys basketball team competed in a hard fought game against Plainfield North on Dec. 7. The team played tough in the first half and kept the score within three.

“In the first half we played hard, we still made a lot of mistakes and we need to keep getting better,” said Isaiah Dupree, senior.

The only thing that kept the Indians out of the game were the little things like taking care of the ball and not putting up good shots.

“We turned the  ball over, took some bad shots, and didn’t transition well on defense,” said Dupree.

The Indians came out strong the second half still trailing but only by 3 with 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

“We always talk about the first 4 minutes of the second half and we did a good job in those first 4 minutes. It was a 3-point game with 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter,” said head coach Kevin Cain.

The Indians looked to pull out the win but started to fall apart

“We settled for low-percentage shots and didn’t convert defensively, allowing North to go on a big run to end the quarter. We were not able to respond after that run,” said Cain.

The Indians ended up losing the game 64-48.

“We need to prepare ourselves for other teams pressure, we just need to control ourselves in tough situations once something goes bad learn from it but it can’t get to our head,” Cain said.
