The Minooka wrestling team has waited over a year to throw on their singlets and wrestle for their school.  The season kicked off on April 28 against Joliet West win a win.

First-year head coach Michael Kimberlin has been eager to start this abnormal season after missing last year.

“I think we will do really well this year as a team,” Kimberlin said.

There are several returning seniors this year for the Indians who are going to make an impact. The boys will look to have a successful year even with a shortened season and no state series.

One of the seniors that is going to make an impact for the Indians is Joey Cecala. 

“I think we have a very solid team this year and I am excited to do some damage,” Cecala said.

Even though there is not a state series to look forward to, the Indians will not be taking this season for granted. 

“We just need to go into this season with a positive attitude and understand that we are given the opportunity to compete and get better,” Kimberlin said.

The seniors will set the tone for the younger kids who aren’t used to varsity level wrestling. One of those seniors is last year’s state qualifier Jack McClimon, who will contribute a great deal to Minooka’s success this season.

“I expect nothing less than what we’ve accomplished in years past,” McClimon said.

Everyone is going to contribute during this unusual season in the path to success that coach Kimberlain has set for the kids.
