Girls swimming 6th at conference
After a long and interesting year for the girls swimming team at MCHS, their season came to an end for many swimmers on Oct. 17 at the SPC Conference Meet.
These girls have practiced long and hard all season preparing for the competition at Oswego East High School, where they would be going against some of the best swimmers in their area.
All teams were split up into their own classroom to make social distancing easy. Workers with walkie talkies would come into the rooms when it was time to get the girls for their events.
All swimmers and personnel in the building were required to wear masks and the girls could only take them off when approaching their designated block.
The meet was led by Kylee Claypool from Morris who placed fourth in diving, and Mackenzie Zweeres from Morris who placed fifth.
Once the swimming aspect of the meet started the girls were doing great.
Drew Smith from Morris placed eighth in the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter freestyle. Trinity Schock from Morris also did an outstanding job placing ninth in the 100-meter breaststroke and 10th in the 50-meter freestyle.
These ladies wrapped up the meet by placing sixth overall as a team.
