Jan. 13, 2020:

First case of novel coronavirus outside of China confirmed

Jan. 24, 2020:

Illinois health officials announced the first confirmed case of infection

Jan. 30, 2020:

Public Health Emergency of International Concern declared by WHO

 Feb. 7, 2020:

The two Illinois cases were released from the hospital and began home isolation.

Feb. 11, 2020:

Novel coronavirus disease named COVID-19

Feb. 14, 2020:

Both made full recoveries and were released from isolation

March 7, 2020 :

Marking 100,000 cases 

March 11, 2020:

WHO characterizes COVID-19 as a pandemic

March 14, 2020:

Total number of cases in Illinois rose to 66.

O’Hare Airport travelers returning from Europe faced enhanced screening from the U.S. Customs officials due to the federal travel ban put in place the day before.

March 15, 2020:

Number of cases rose to 93 in Illinois.

Governor JB Pritzker ordered all bars and restaurants closed to sit-in diners.

March 16, 2020:

Cases rose to 105 in Illinois.

Governor Pritzker announced restrictions for public gatherings, limiting crowds to under 50 people.

MCHS has the first A/B day to update students on e-learning before school is closed.

March 17 – 30, 2020:
Declared ‘Act of God’ days by Governor Pritzker, meaning no makeup required for schools, nor can students’ grades be affected negatively. Pritzker has since extended the school closing through April 30 2020.

April 2, 2020:

715 new cases and 16 additional deaths in Illinois. 

District #111 has two of the three feeding counties being in the top 10 for cases in Illinois.

Will: 375 cases , 9 deaths
Kendall: 34 cases, 2 deaths
Grundy: 5 cases, 0 deaths
