The seniors beat the juniors at the powderpuff game Monday, 13-6.

An intense and hard-fought match-up was the story of this year’s annual Homecoming powderpuff game. The senior squad competed against the junior squad, and it is safe to say that both teams did everything they could to put it all on the line Monday night on the new stadium turf.

When it was over, the seniors had won 13-6.

One highlight that really stuck out was an interception return by senior Sam Zurawski early in the second half. Her score would put the seniors up 13-0 with under 20 minutes remaining in the game. Her impressive speed showcased her athleticism.

The junior team did try to mount a comeback late in the game by scoring a touchdown in the final few minute, but it just wasn’t enough tin win due to the strong senior defense.

With senior Jada Anthony playing strong defense at the defensive back position, it seemed like she shut down her half of the field the entire night and especially in the final few minutes.

The game was split into two halves with each half 25 minutes. Each team wore flags. If a team fumbled, it was an automatic turnover, and the opposing team would gain possession of the ball. There were no kickoffs or punts, and if it was fourth down, a team would choose whether they wanted to punt. If they chose to punt, the opposing team would gain possession of the ball 30 yards downfield from the previous line of scrimmage.
