Students attend Movie Night to start Homecoming Week

MCHS kicked off their Homecoming Week with a Movie Night on Sunday, showing The Greatest Showman.

The film, starring Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum, was originally released in 2017.  Student council drew the inspiration for the Homecoming Week theme, “The Greatest Showcoming,” from the movie.

Ms. Hillary Holden, activities director, had been pushing to show a movie, and when the opportunity arose with the Homecoming theme, she had to take it.

Senior Emily Reedy liked the idea. She said that the movie made her excited for Homecoming because the movie fit the theme for the week.

Other students had different thoughts.

“It was kind of more of a realization it’s now finally Homecoming Week,” said freshman Blayse Messino.

Reedy, along with NHS members Gary Gomez and Nina Romac, were at the showing as members of the Perfect Pals.

I’m just glad I was able to give that experience to one of our Perfect Pals,” said Gomez.

The night was free for all students, with the only exception being for the snack bar.

Funds raised from the snack bar are going towards this year’s Winter Dance, which will take place instead of Winterfest, as not enough students were in attendance last year.

Freshman and sophomore class representatives will be working on the dance after Homecoming is over.
