Senior quarterback Seth Lehr looks downfield early in the first quarter against Plainfield East. Lehr was injured on a late hit shortly thereafter and did not return in the game.

Last Friday, Sept. 13, the Indians’ starting quarterback, Seth Lehr was injured against Plainfield East on a late in the first quarter of the game. Lehr has started every Minooka varsity game the last two seasons.

After the injury, backup junior quarterback Josh Davis was called up to run the show.

“When I got the call that I was going in, I was a bit shaky, but I knew my team and I my offense had my back,” Davis said.

All Davis wanted was to help his team win and he did such.

“All that was going through my head was that I needed to step up for the team and get the win,” said Davis.

For the next game against Joliet Central, Lehr has high expectations for his team and Davis.

“I think the team will still perform at a high level. Josh is definitely prepared to play and keep the offense rolling,” Lehr said.

Head coach John Belskis believes this will not be an issue for the team.

“It shouldn’t affect our momentum, and nothing changes having Josh Davis at quarterback,” Belskis said.

Lehr’s return date is still unknown.

Davis will start for the Indians at Joliet Central this Friday, Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m.
