Volleyball takes win over Lincoln-Way East
On Sept. 17, the Minooka girls volleyball team pulled through in a hard fought win over Lincoln-Way East. The Indians beat the Griffins in two sets (25-20, 25-23).
Senior setter Zoey Seput finished the game leading with 27 assists, three total blocks, and five digs.
“We started out slower than we would have liked but very proud on the way our team pulled through and won in two,” Seput said.
Junior outside hitter Heidi Bonde led the team in kills, nine, while also having three digs, two blocks, and one ace.
“We maintained good communication and high energy throughout the game which really helped us,” Bonde said.
With Minooka being ranked fourth in the state and East being ranked seventh, it was a very important game for the Indians.
“They’re ranked in the state so it’s always fun to play in big games like that. Especially getting a win on the road is always a confidence booster as well!” Seput said.
With the win being so close, there are obviously things that the girls can work on.
“We still need to work on our communication. Communication is such a huge part of any teams game, so we really need to improve that, because when our communication stops our level of play drops,” head coach Carrie Prosek said.
The Indians continued their winning ways with a victory at home against Joliet Central on Sept. 19.
