Girls take bowling regional champonship

The Minooka girls bowling came in first place at regionals at Echo Lanes in Morris on Feb. 2.

Among the top bowlers of the day, senior Gina Russell placed first individually with 1415 pins, a 235 average, and a high game of 279.

Following Russell in second place was junior Alyssa Ritchie. She finished with 1370 pins, a 228 average, and a high game of 290.

Senior Kristina Sickler was also with Russell and Ritchie in having a great day. Sickler finished in fourth place with 1294 pins, a 215 average, and a high game off 300.

Sickler had her first-ever 300 perfect game, a milestone in her high school bowling career.

“I was so happy for her, and I am sad to see her leaving after this year. She’s an amazing bowler, and I hope she comes back next year to visit,” said junior Alyssa Ritchie.

The girls team qualified for state after placing third at sectionals on Feb. 9 and is looking to do well on Saturday at the IHSA State Finals in Rockford at The Cherry Bowl.
