Boys basketball takes loss against Waubonsie Valley

Waubonsie Valley’s Marcus Skeete led the Warriors to a victory over Minooka on Jan. 26.

The final score was 54-40.

Minooka’s boys basketball team tried to compete with good hustle and defense, having three steals and two blocks across the team.

“I thought that we had a couple mistakes against Waubonsie, and there’s a lot of things we could fix, but we’re just working on that getting ready for regionals,” Trent Hudak, junior, said.

Minooka came in with a winning mentality and tried to fire each other up in the beginning.

“We were trying to get people going, trying to get stops on defense and just trying to keep the game close the whole time we could,” Jaden Paige, junior, said.

Hudak led Minooka with 12 points. Minooka made a good effort on offense as they shot 21 percent from the 3-point line.

“We competed, we didn’t give up, we made our runs at them … we just didn’t stop their runs back at us,” Kevin Cain, head coach, said.
