Minooka boys drop close game to Joliet Central

After a tough four quarters, the Minooka boys basketball team suffered a loss to the Joliet Central Steelmen with a score of 58-55.

The Indians fought throughout the whole game on Jan. 11, but it just wasn’t enough to overcome the Steelmen. The loss moves the Indians’ record down to 5-11 on the season.

Trent Hudak, Carlos Hernandez, and Alginon Lewis all scored in the double digits in the game. Also scoring were Adrian Gutierrez, Xavier Horde, Grayson Hoffman, Michael Zito, and Jaedon Johnson.

“I thought that we improved in that game, and that we were in the game the whole time. But we just made mistakes in the stretch at the end of the game,” Hudak, a junior, said.

The game came down to the last minutes where the Indians were just making too many mistakes that increased the Steelmen’s lead.

“I believed that (the team) wanted to be in the game and I believe that (the team) really wanted to win that game. I love how (the team) really competed throughout that whole game,” head coach Kevin Cain said.

Hernandez agreed.

“It was a hard fought game,” Hernandez, a senior, said.  “It shows how we are a team that even with our record can compete with very good teams.”
