A major blowout took place during this college football game, and it wasn’t even close.

The 2019 NCAA National Championship football game took place on Jan. 7, and the game surely didn’t disappoint — unless you are in Alabama fan.

This game had it all: young stars showing off their talent, a third rematch between the two teams, a big group of future NFL stars going against each other, and also two legendary coaches squaring off.

Yet, the final score of the game was Clemson 44, Alabama 16.

There were many reasons why Clemson was favored to win. A big reason was probably because of their amazing defense, with five defensive players who could potentially be drafted in the first round of the NFL draft. Another reason they could have won by the big margin they did was because of their young quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Whatever reason it may be, Clemson absolutely destroyed Alabama.

Alabama went into the game undefeated, with a 14-0 record. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa led the Crimson Tide all season to end up going to the National Championship.

Eight out of the their previous 14 games, Alabama won by 30 points or more. They had one of the nation’s best offenses and they were also looking to win their second straight championship. Alabama had a record-breaking season, but it still wasn’t good enough to withstand Clemson during the season finale.

Tagovailoa finished the game completing 22-34 of his passes, and he also threw two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Najee Harris was Alabama’s leading rusher with only 9 carries and 59 rushing yards.

Jerry Jeudy was Alabama’s leading receiver with 5 receptions, 139 yards, and one touchdown.

Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence played perhaps the best game out of anyone else during the game. He ended the game completing 20-33 of his passes, 347 passing yards, and three touchdowns.

Travis Etienne was the leading rusher for Clemson with 14 carries, 86 rushing yards, and two touchdowns.

Justyn Ross tore apart the Alabama secondary. He had a monsterous game finishing with six receptions, 153 recieving yards, and one touchdown.
