Sophomore boys focus on defense

Over Thanksgiving break the boys sophomore basketball team started off their season with the Lasalle-Peru tournament and played a total of four games.

They finished 1-3.

“We have been working offensively, trying to figure out our best match ups and how we can be more efficient offensively,” sophomore coach Jason Boe said.

The boys were looking to have solid defense and not give up much.

As for preparing, we have been working extremely hard defensively holding teams to under 50 points,” Boe said.

Minooka was able to accomplish that in all four games.

They lost to Moline, 45-49. Later, they beat Plano, 49-34.

Another loss came against Providence, 39-27.  Minooka took Princeton into overtime, before losing 49-44.

The Minooka sophomores are looking to head into Friday’s game against Plainfield South with momentum and hope to get out of there with the win.

“We are expecting and hoping for a 20-point win on Friday,” Jake Faron, sophomore, said.
