The Minooka girls bowling match was filled with many exciting moments and firsts when they took on Plainfield South on Nov. 29.

In their first dual match of the year, Minooka beat the Cougars in every game of the night.

In the first game, Julia Rayola and Donna Korczak each bowled their highest game. Rayola bowled a 223 and Korczak with a 215.

“It was a great feeling to see that the weeks of practice leading into the season paid off. I’m excited to grow and develop my skills to achieve an even higher game,” said senior Donna Korczak.

By the end of the first game, Minooka led with over a 150-pin difference.

“I was nervous going into our first match of the season, but after that first game, I felt more confident we could win as a team,” said junior Alyssa Alexander.

After two more matches, Minooka held on to the lead and won the points by 662 pins.

Gina Russell and Kristina Sickler contributed to the team total with their highest games of the day with 233 for Russell and 255 for Sickler.

With the team’s focus for this year being on team-building and working together as one, this match certainly proved that they have so much to look forward to.

The girls were very enthusiastic cheering on their teammates and even congratulating their opponents on their good throws.

The girls finished with 2,962 pins overall for a successful night. They look to take on Plainfield East at Bowlero Lanes on Tuesday, Dec. 4.
