The Arrowettes perform at a football game this fall.

The Minooka Arrowettes varsity poms squad started off their Thanksgiving break with a bang.

On Saturday, Nov. 17, the Arrowettes competed in the Fremd Invitational.

Their dance “Battlefield” placed 7th, and their other dance “Resolve” placed 13th out of 42 dances.

“I like ‘Battlefield’ more because it has more dance and the style of the dance is more fun, but ‘Resolve’ is more challenging because of the tricks and hard technique,” said junior Nina Romac.

With it being the poms first competition of the season, some of the dancers were a bit nervous.

“Our nerves were pretty bad because we knew we were competing against teams that were really good,” said junior Sophia Sadler.

Despite the nerves, and the good competition, the Arrowettes were not satisfied with their placing.

Happy? Yes. Satisfied?

“Not a chance,” Nina Romac.

The girls placed 8th at their own invitational on Dec. 1.
