Girls basketball season preview

After a solid postseason run in winning the regional championship last year, the Minooka Girls varsity basketball team hopes to make this season an even better one.

Head Coach Jeff Easthon has high hopes for this year’s team.

“We have a really good team this year. We plan on going farther than last year of just winning a regional championship,” said Easthon.

The girls have a strong senior core, which are looking to propel this group to the highest potential that they can reach.  Three-year varsity senior Savannah Johnson looks to make a big impact on the season.

“I am really looking forward to being coached by Coach Easthon and Coach Kelly, and I hope to set an example for the underclassmen girls,” Johnson said.

Johnson will not be the only senior setting examples for the juniors this year.

Easthon explained that “three out of the five starters are seniors, so we should have good leadership this year.”

Easthon is not the only one holding optimism at the beginning of this season.

Two-year varsity junior Allison Bugajski said, “I hope to win conference and regionals this year.”
