NBA playoffs 1st-round recap

The first round of the NBA playoffs had plenty of drama for it just being the beginning of the playoffs. There were some upsets, but there were also a lot of predicted winners.

The first series that ended was the New Orleans Pelicans sweeping the Portland Trail Blazers and advancing to the second round. Strong performances by Anthony Davis throughout the series put away the Blazers.

The Philadelphia Sixers beat the Miami Heat in five games backed by strong performances by multiple people. Ben Simmons was the star of the series, playing very efficiently in all five games, even without Joel Embiid playing in games 1-3.

The Golden State Warriors also advanced to the second round defeating the San Antonio Spurs in five games. The Warriors dominated the series despite being without Stephen Curry the whole series.

The Minnesota Timberwolves were eliminated by the Houston Rockets in five games. Karl-Anthony Towns had a relatively disappointing series, which resulted in the Timberwolves losing and the Rockets had too much fire power for the Wolves to handle.

The Toronto Raptors defeated the Washington Wizards in six games. The Raptors continued their impressive season by beating the Wizards and advancing to the second round.

The Utah Jazz surprised everyone by beating the Oklahoma City Thunder in six games. Donovan Mitchell continued his tremendous rookie season by leading the Jazz over the Thunder.

The Boston Celtics beat the Milwaukee Bucks in seven games. The injury plagued Celtics found a way to overcome all of their injuries and beat the Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Cleveland Cavaliers also advanced to the second round by defeating the Indiana Pacers in seven games. LeBron James single handedly led the Cavs over Victor Oladipo and the Pacers.

Second-round series will include the Warriors against the Pelicans, the Jazz against the Rockets, the Raptors against the Cavaliers, and the Celtics against the 76ers. The second round began on April 28.
