Girls golf team starts off strong

Caitlin Ritter, junior, tees off one of the holes at Heritage Bluffs on Aug. 24. The girls played against Plainfield North where they won by only one stroke.

The girls golf team’s main goal hasn’t changed from last year: win conference.

They will have to deal with the loss of the seniors from last year, but they are hoping that the new seniors can step in and replace them as the leaders of the team.

Last year they had a successful season by winning conference and only losing one dual meet to Lincoln-Way Central. They had one of our best years as a varsity golf team.

This year they are led by seniors Jaylynn Martin, Rachel Kirkolis, Lauren Goggins, Grace Feigl, and Kayla Faron. They will look to help guide the Indians to another conference championship.

The future is bright for the Indians with plenty of good juniors and sophomores who are ready to be called upon when they get their shot on varsity.

They have started out the year 3-0 and are looking to continue to stay undefeated in dual meets.

“I think that we will win our conference again this year,” Camden Gray, junior, said.

The Indians’ next dual meet is Tuesday, Aug. 29 at the Heritage Bluffs Golf Course in Channahon.
