The boys varsity golf team has been very successful for the past couple of years, going undefeated in dual meets for 3 straight years. This year is going to be a more challenging for the team.

Last year they had three golfers qualify for the IHSA Sectional Tournament. They also had Dan Anfield finish 17th at the IHSA State Tournament. Anfield and Brandon Brodzinski have moved on to golf at the collegiate level.

They have to deal with the loss of their four top players from last year, and that is quite a difficult task.

“It is difficult for a program to lose players of that caliber. There is always a transition when you get to the varsity level so to make that transition earlier and faster will pay big dividends for our golf program,” Brian Petrovic, coach, said.

This year they are led by four golfers and two of them are underclassmen. Senior Nolan King, junior Dylan Pfieffer, sophomore Matt Sitar, and freshman Luke Petrovic will hope to lead this team to have a positive season.

“I believe we have the talent to have a very good and successful year,” Pfieffer said.

The Indians’ next dual meet is Aug. 28 at Heritage Bluffs Golf Course.
