Fans still in the dark on AHS Season 6

It seems as though the producers of American Horror Story have taken their skills of deception to a whole new level.

Around this time last year, we — as fans — knew exactly what the theme of season five of AHS would be and had a basic idea of the plot line.

This year has been a little different.

Producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have filled our heads with countless ideas of what this next season can entail.

AHS season six will premiere on Sept. 14, and as of Aug. 26, there have been 31 teaser trailers that have been uploaded to various sorts of social media like Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Many different fan theories have arisen because of this transgression to our sanities.

Some fans believe that this upcoming season has something to do with an orphanage, or Roanoke—the ghost settlement of early America. Others think that Murphy and Falchuk will be sticking with the old hollywood theme that they used in AHS season five, “Hotel.”

Then there’s the question of the old horror movie references that are tied into each different set of trailers: Children of the Corn, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes.

There have also been references to Charles Manson, a haunted forest, and an apocalypse.

While there are many different disagreements about what season six will be, the fans can agree on this: each season fits together to create some bigger picture. What this bigger picture is is still a mystery.

Sadly, it doesn’t matter how many fan theories are created. Only the producers know which one of the trailers is the real one. All of the viewers just have to wait in anticipation to find out which one is real.

It is understandable, however, why Murphy and Falchuk are pulling such a publicity stunt. After AHS season four, “Freak Show,” and the following “Hotel,” the show reached a record breaking low and lost over a million viewers, according to headlineplanet.com

So what will American Horror Story season six be, and how long will we have to wait before we find out which trailer is real?
